Pierre-Henri is a newcomer in the jewellery field. He explains the difficulties related to the launch of his brand, his love of handmade work and his projects. Can you name jewellery designers you like? Alix, designer of MySen’s jewels. She is a young designer I met during fairs, I love her working approach, the skills she uses and her work delicacy. I am afraid I have a lack of culture about jewellers!   Could you name other artists you like? Not really…I mean no artist directly inspires my creative work or my approach. I like Dennis Hopper but except a reference in the brand name – small nod to Easy Rider – he doesn’t inspire my work. Do you have favourite jewels? No…During a period, I wore many Touareg jewels I bought in some Morrocan souks and now I only wear one of my pieces but there is no specific…Continue Reading

Pierre-Henri working days are split between his workshop in Vendée and his apartment in Nantes. A place is dedicated to the production and the other is dedicated to all the others tasks related to his activity. Where do you work? Most of my work is done in my workshop, for now it is at my parents’ house in a small village, next to Noirmoutier, and I also work in my appartment in Nantes. What is your favourite tool? The bocfil my saw, maybe because it is the first tool I have discovered but I think it is very useful. It is the tool I most often use. Even if mine is only five years old, it looks like an old tool because its wooden handle acquired a patina, it is becoming a beautiful object. What are the tools you mostly use? My saw to cut the metal, my torch to…Continue Reading

I live in the South of France, I have a house in La Tour de France, next to Perpignan. It is a four floors house with a garage downstairs which is now empty but it used to be my workshop. My new workshop is on the third floor. There is a very nice view. Philip Sajet. Photo : © Thereza Pedrosa Philip Sajet – 2/3 Know-how What are your favourite tools? I like the saw, the file and the torch to weld, obviously. I like the saw and the lime because it goes straight and it embillishes the material. A hammer is mostly used for curves, I don’t use it a lot. I really like flat and…Continue Reading
Philip Sajet is a Dutch contemporary jeweler who lives in the South of France. Philip is a confirmed jeweler and he has become a reference for the contemporary jewel lovers over the years. He works towards minimalism : sharp lines, search of volume and a very small color and material palette. His work is a real questioning about the jewel status for humans and in the arts. Could you please introduce yourself? My name is Philip Sajet and I make jewellery. It could be defined as a very superficial and vain activity! I want to understand everything, I am very curious about what happens in the world : nature, politics, art, etc. I like to follow things through and I have always been surprised by my attraction to superficials things such as beauty, vanity, etc. Gathering these two contradictions took me a lot of time, it confused me. One day,…Continue Reading

Eva shows us her workshop outside of Stockholm and tells us about her creative approach. Where do you work? I have a workshop in an old porcelain factory outside Stockholm. There I also have the storage of the by Mutti porcelain. I do sketching and drawing in my home. No, that is not completely true, I sketch absentmindedly on small pieces of paper lying around… What is your favorite tool? Why? My favorite tool is the simple pencil, when I can draw light hearted without pressure. What are the other tools you use? When I work with the handmade design I prefer a stoneware clay, that contains small grains of lava sand. Those grains bloom in the glaze, giving it life and texture. I buy that clay at our local ceramist store. That clay is for throwing. I throw very thin bowls that either are glazed in the small range of colors…Continue Reading
