Candice Egloff is a self-taught jewelry maker. She is a fighter and a passionate person who tries to distinguish herself in the jewelry world. One of the purposes of this website is to show the beginnings of the creator story therefore I am really glad to show the meticulous process used by Candice and her work.

Can you please introduce yourself?

I am 25, I have been living in Bordeaux for 6 years, it is my adopted city. I have a strong temperament. I have been hiding behind fake desires for a long time. Then I decided to take another way (jewels) instead of studying history. To this day, I am blooming!

How would you define your universe ?

Ethnic, organic, original, coloured, similar to a mosaic and adapted to every woman.

When and how have you decided to launch your activity?
What has been your experience before this launch?

I have created by first piece with eggshell in january 2014, I was still preparing a bachelor degree in History and Heritage. During my history of art lessons, I have studied jewelry from time to time… I was tired to study it, I wanted to create it. So, I stopped my studies and in December 2014 I became auto-entrepreneur. I am a self-learner. By way of anecdote, it was during Christmas holidyas at my family home in Bayonne, it was an ordinary night, we were eating hard boiled eggs. That’s how it started…

How did your passion for jewelry start?
When have you created your first jewel and which kind of jewel was it ? How was it ? How did you feel?

I have always been found of fasshion but accessories such as bags and jewels fascinate me. I really started to create jewels during my teenage years.
My mother gave me her treasure box full of beads, fabrics…
The real first memory of jewelry making? A necklace of «scoubidous» plastic cords rolled in a golden chunky chain. Overloaded and too bling-bling! I think I was about 14-15 years old.

How do you organize your creation process ?

My technics requires different steps. But I would say that the watchword is patience! I bargain-hunt my pieces upstream and I go forward according to my desires.

Where do you find your inspiration and ideas?

My ideas come from everywhere, I do not try to find an idea, they just appear. However, I create a lot of pieces according to my clothes. I have a neutral style but whether my jacket, my shoes or my purse are eccentric. So I imagine myself with jewels to enhance and finish my look and I create it. I like huge pieces such as XXL collar necklace or big cuffs but I know how to adapt my pieces to shier clients.
